My Peace Corps Experience in Mali and Burkina Faso, West Africa

Invite’s in the Mail!

Despite my complete lack of blogging over the past three months since medical clearance, I’ve been anxiously (as anybody who has talked to me at any length over the past few weeks knows) awaiting any word at all from the Peace Corps.

Today, I talked to a placement officer on the phone and had a final interview–and even though he didn’t say anything about looking the mail for an invite, I woke up at 4am to an email alert and found that my toolkit had been updated…I’m being invited to officially become a PCV! Now as long as I can make one of my roomies PROMISE to try and be home part of this week (I’m never home, haha and my complex doesn’t allow the mailman to leave packages in the lobby), I should be golden. :-) I feel like it’s most likely going to be Francophone Africa as my original nomination stated, since my PO didn’t bring up a region change, and mentioned that I should keep up studying French….we shall see!

:-) :-):-)I will keep everyone posted about exactly what country is going to be my new home for two years.

A bientot,

Jojo

That’s so exciting! Congrats! I’m hoping mine is on the way, though I’m a bit worried I accidentally said something stupid which will keep mine away for a bit longer. But I’m excited to know where you’re heading!

P.S. I’m the same Carrie from the facebook group

    • Carrie,
Thank you! I am sure we are all going to be hearing something soon. I’m so glad to have met other applicants going through the same thing..it has helped the application process immensely!

  3. Hey Ashleigh! Thanks! It all happened really fast and suddenly. April 1 I got a request for an updated resume from my APO. Didn’t hear anything last week at all, then Monday morning got a call (well missed it and then returned it, lol) from my PO. We had the ‘final interview’ and then he said he’d be in touch. Didn’t know what that meant, but woke up this morning to a lovely status update :-)

I know we’re all around the corner from being placed…and I’m so excited for all of us! I’m sure at the pace they are going, you’ll be hearing from somebody soon!
