My Peace Corps Experience in Mali and Burkina Faso, West Africa

Off to the fields I go….

At long last….I have my very own field! My host father finally found me a spot a little ways away from the village. I spent the better part of 2 days clearing out excess grass, and now with the help of my host brother and his donkey I’ve planted peanuts which should provide me with approximately enough nourishment for the next five years (exaggeration, though not that big of one considering the number of peanuts one person alone can eat…so in my case, not many). When they start to grow I hope to hand over a significant amount of the peanuts to my host family to add some good protein to their diets. Meanwhile, if some of you receive oddly-shaped envelopes and open them up to find tons of peanuts, don’t be surprised :-)

I’ll try to keep pictures posted along the way, has a chance to document my first foray into agriculture.
